Flowing Mobility, Gentle Strength
- built on science, created with feeling.

SOMA is a training method that emphasises flowing mobility and gentle strength to improve all movement patterns and overall well-being.

This method combines elements from various disciplines such as yoga, body therapy, and functional training to help participants develop body awareness, improve mobility, and build strength harmoniously.

Flowing Mobility - In SOMA, we focus on performing movements in a smooth and continuous way. Rather than isolating individual muscles or joints, it emphasises a holistic movement experience where different parts of the body work in harmony. The goal is to create a flowing movement that is both functional and beautiful. This type of mobility helps improve flexibility, coordination, and body awareness.

Gentle Strength - Gentle strength is about developing muscle power without creating excessive muscle tension. In SOMA, strength is trained in a way that not only builds muscle mass and strength but also maintains a sense of relaxation and flexibility. The goal is to achieve a balance between strength and flexibility, where muscles can engage without creating tensions that may lead to imbalances or injuries.

SOMA is not only a physical training method but also incorporates aspects of mindfulness and body awareness. It encourages participants to listen to their bodies, be mindful of their movements and breathing, and explore the limits of their physical abilities safely.

Overall, SOMA is a holistic training method aimed at improving not only the body’s performance capacity but also body awareness and well-being.

Teaching SOMA

As a coach, you can lead SOMA for groups of various sizes, offering your participants a blend of strength, mobility, mindfulness, and stillness. You can use pre-made choreography or create your own classes.

For those who are yoga instructors, SOMA becomes a dynamic and powerful addition that can be creatively woven into or complement other classes.

As a personal trainer, coach, or body therapist, you can utilise our extensive library of SOMA movements to create athletic yet gentle training programmes for your clients, as well as present “Small Group classes” using pre-made choreography.

For sports teachers, we offer a pro bono program, equipping you with the skills to introduce SOMA to students and enhance their body awareness and knowledge.
